Alexandra Ashton established Urban Flora Design in 2010 to offer contemporary landscape design, installation and horticultural services to Bay Area residents. A plant enthusiast, she has been in the horticultural trade since 1996, when she completed an apprenticeship in organic agriculture and horticulture at Green Gulch Farm in Marin County. Subsequent education includes the Landscape Horticulture program at Merritt College and completion of the Bay-Friendly and EPA qualified water efficient landscaping certifications. Alexandra also holds an M.A. in cultural geography from UC Davis, where she wrote her thesis on the impacts of urban community gardens on inner-city neighborhoods. She currently resides in Oakland, CA.
